The Experience of Clinical Nurses¡¯ Interpersonal Conflict

Abstract
Purpose:This study is to find out the meaning and the essence of clinical nurses¡¯ interpersonal conflict.

Methods:The participants of this research are 7 nurses who work in general hospitals in Seoul. The data were collected from November 1, 2011 until April 30, 2012, and it has been done by in-depth interview. The results were analyzed by Colazzi¡¯s phenomenological method.

Results:In this study, 5 categories were extracted: ¡¯Conflict due to demanding human relations¡¯, ¡¯Conflict due to rigid organizational culture¡¯, ¡¯Conflict due to limitation of professional nursing¡¯, ¡¯Conflict due to pressure of unconditional sacrifice¡¯, ¡¯Conflict due to deficit of therapeutic self environment¡¯.

Conclusion:Nurses felt their interpersonal conflicts have deepened. They struggled with conflict and became mature. Finally, nurses overcame the difficulty of interpersonal relations.
